A sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel is in develop according to TheWrap.
Even following the marginal reviews of Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Warner Bros. has put the Superman sequel in development. Superman is getting another shot at a solo film and hopefully redeem the character.
No concrete information has been released yet such as release date, plot or cast. However, Geoff Johns has been appointed to co-run the DC extended universe and he has great love for the source material as he has been writing comics for many years. I have faith that Johns’ knows what it takes to make a good story.
The new Superman movie will be released after Wonder Woman, Justice League and Aquaman. These films should be a good lead in to Superman and give DC an opportunity to have a cohesive universe established.
DC and Warner Bros. need a big critical success like they had with Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Superman is the figurehead character of the company so they need Superman to be a success in order to keep the DC extended universe on track. If the film flops it could end future DC film’s chances of being made.
If you just can’t wait to see your favorite Kryptonian Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently on DVD/BluRay and Justice League will be out Nov. 17, 2017.
