Zach Snyder has a tendency to use social media to his advantage, drawing in us fans with first looks at new characters, behind-the-scenes videos, and other various things. This time is no exception. With the speculation growing on the internet surrounding the filming in Iceland, now was the perfect time for Snyder to give fans a glimpse of what exactly he’s filming while there. Today, in an exclusive from IGN, Zach Snyder posted a first look of Amber Heard as Mera for the upcoming Justice League movie.
In the exclusive, the article also featured a couple different pieces of concept art from costume designer Michael Wilkinson as well as a video showcasing the transition from concept to reality. Unfortunately, I was unable to grab the video from IGN, so definitely make sure that you check out their article to see how Wilkinson transitioned the concept into the first look we got to see today.
I am always fascinated by concept art and seeing it come to life. Being able to see the original concept sketch for Mera and see how it was streamlined to fit into Zach Snyder’s DC Universe is definitely an experience within itself. I will admit that seeing the process and seeing the character come to life has made me super giddy. It has also definitely peaked my interest in what Snyder plans on doing with the character.
Mera will have a supporting role in the Justice League movie. You can bet for the Aquaman movie, directed by James Wan, she will have a more prominent role.
Justice League is expected to open up in theaters on November 17, 2017. What do you think about the concept art? Let us know in the comments below.
