Carrie Fisher will not appear in Star Wars Episode IX as her iconic Leia Organa according to a statement that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy gave to ABCNews.

This is in spite of a statement made by the late actress’ brother Todd Fisher, saying that he and Billie Lourd, Fisher’s daughter, had given permission to use the footage of the late actress in the upcoming film. Earlier today, Kennedy told ABCNews that no decision had been made about whether to include the footage in some other fashion. We don’t know how Leia’s story will conclude in Star Wars: The Last Jedi since she passed away after film completed.

More on this as it breaks.
