All these visuals to distract your ears

Hela taking on the Valkyrior (from Thor: Ragnarok SDCC Trailer)

The army of Valkyrior descending from the heavens to defend Asgard from Ragnarök in a Renaissance-like image; more Cate Blanchett as Hela basking in all her treacherous glory; a Thor and Bruce Banner buddy banter; Thor and Loki shoot guns; Hulk vs. Fenris Wolf; Hulk vs. Surtur; Hulk with a haircut; Thor and Hulk buddy bant… – wait, what?! THE HULK CAN TALK IN COMPLETE SENTENCES, YOU GUYS!!

Thor & Hulk (from Thor: Ragnarok SDCC Trailer)

All of the aforementioned had the crowd roaring in Hall H after Marvel Studios unveiled their brand new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. It was everything the fans were missing and more from the very first teaser that debuted three months ago. However, I believe the trailer’s visuals and  buzz was a distraction that prevented fans from noticing a more subtle hint.

Naturally, I watched this trailer over and over again (along with the other trailers released over the weekend). Soon enough, I had noticed something that might’ve slipped under people’s radars – something that almost didn’t belong. Right around the 00:30 mark of the trailer after the Marvel Studios title card, there was an otherworldly, robotic-like voice.

Check out the trailer below:

Is Beta Ray Bill on the Horizon?

Asgardian Hammer from Guardian of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

I wasn’t imagining things, right? You heard a distorted voice, too? Is there a reason for Banner’s distorted voice? Conversely, what might’ve been masked as Bruce Banner asking Thor about their whereabouts in the same scene, could easily be taken from another scene in the movie – asked by another character.

In May 27, 2017, Disney’s California Adventure debuted the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride. During your wait in the queue, you’re surrounded by artifacts that The Collector has gathered – easter eggs that have either been sprinkled in previous movies or have yet to be seen. Displayed are Cosmo the Spacedog, Celestial Masks, Crystal of Conquest, etc.  One of these artifacts is an Asgardian hammer. What might’ve been passed as another simple Asgardian artifact, my mind instantly thought: Stormbreaker!

For those who don’t know, Stormbreaker is the hammer that Beta Ray Bill wields. Beta Ray Bill is a cybernetic-looking skeleton horsehead with a body of a buff human (or similar). In a comic book nutshell, Thor and Beta Ray Bill get into a fight. In this fight, Beta Ray Bill ends up picking up Mjölnir, deeming him worthy. Thor’s hammer is eventually returned, but Odin orders the creation of another hammer – Stormbreaker – specifically for Bill.

Despite Stormbreaker being gold, is this an easter egg intentionally placed to forecast events to come in Thor: Ragnarok? Perhaps a scenario that might play out more in Avengers: Infinity War? Will Scuttlebutt fly alongside the Milano?

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
