Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters II Issue 2 Review
The Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters race across dimensions to avoid being captured by the Collectors in this wild and trippy book, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters II Issue 2.
The issue basically served as an explanation to why everything was happening and set up the plot. We learn why the collectors went after the Turtles, and why the Ghostbusters aren’t prepared to help them.
Egon pulls Donatello into his dimension and tells him that he is using a helmet on Donatello and Winston’s respective heads to trick the Collectors into sensing Winston as Donatello. Egon explains that it will not trick the Collectors for long, so each Ghostbuster and each Turtle must jump dimensions, escaping the Collectors long enough for Egon and Donatello to create a device to stop them.
Jumping through dimensions allows for a team of artists to get creative. Leonardo and Winston travel to a dimension that is a throwback to the 80’s Ninja Turtles cartoon.
Jumping through dimensions, Ray explains to Raphael that moving through dimensions causes an uprise in ghost activity. The Ghostbusters discovered more details about dimension jumping back when they met their all-female counterparts, based on the Ghostbusters 2016 film.
The book does a lot of cool things, like separating the turtles, each with their own Ghostbuster companion. Separating both teams will force each character to learn more about their new partner as they try to survive.
The story ends with Donatello and Winston’s minds beginning to get jumbled. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/Ghostbusters II is proving to be just as fun as the first. The sequel allows the book to skip the trite crossover format and dive into an interesting story. It’s creative and the art is amazing. Issue 2 continued to set up the story, so the following issue should be action-packed.
