As you well know by now, here at THS we love a good casting breakdown. It’s a lot of fun to see what kinds of characters the creators of our favorite comic book shows and movies are bringing to the screen, and guess who they might be when the casting notices are given silly code names. (Seriously, why do they do this? Why does it always have to be some kind of state secret that comic book shows/movies are using comic book characters?)

We’ve brought you a lot of casting news for DC’s upcoming live action series Titans already, and today we’ve got another exciting breakdown to share. This particular breakdown comes from our friends over at Titans Podcast. Let’s see what we’ve got:

[EVAN LOGUE]: Male, Late 30s-40s, Caucasian. Charismatic. A cult leader attempting to reunite his family. Central role for series finale. RECURRING GUEST STAR. Please submit star/cameo names. Casting early for wardrobe but the role works Ep. 111 (04/09-04/19) and Ep. 112 (04/19 – 05/01)

As Titans Podcast speculates, there are two solid options for who this could be: either Trigon or Brother Blood. The characters are two of the Teen Titans’ biggest villains, so it would make a lot of sense for one or both of them to be featured on the show.

Trigon is an inter-dimensional demon and the father of Titans member Raven. After Deathstroke, he’s probably the Titans’ biggest baddie. He frequently tries to harness Raven’s demonic powers in his attempts to conquer or destroy the universe, so the line about trying to reunite his family is what lends credence to the idea that this breakdown could be for Trigon.

But the breakdown says the character is a cult leader, and that’s where Brother Blood comes in. Brother Blood—a version of whom has appeared on Arrow—is actually a leader of a cult; specifically, a cult that at various times has both tried to kill and worshipped Trigon. Brother Blood has had a variety of different powers, depending on whether we’re talking comics or animation, but in the title has been held by a number of different characters who come into possession of a shawl granting invulnerability and drastically reduced aging.

While you could make arguments for either character being the subject of the breakdown, I’m inclined to say that it’s probably Brother Blood. Besides the fact that the breakdown specifically mentions the character being a cult leader, it’s also asking for an actor of Caucasian ethnicity. Trigon, being a demon, could be played by an actor of any ethnicity, so the fact that the breakdown isn’t an open ethnicity call makes me think it’s probably not about Trigon. (Yes, Raven is being played by the white Teagan Croft, but that doesn’t mean anything when it comes to Trigon)

Regardless of which of the two characters the breakdown is actually referring to, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both Trigon and Brother Blood showing up on Titans. It would be a good idea for the show to come out of the gate strong with two of the Titans’ biggest bad guys, and their strong interconnection means it would make perfect sense for them to both be on the show at the same time.

Who do you think the subject of this new breakdown is? Could it be someone we haven’t thought of? Let us know in the comments.
