When Disney acquired Lucasfilm back in 2012, I knew Star Wars was the property they coveted the most but I was curious what would happen to Indiana Jones.
Well now that 3 years of successful Star Wars have passed, Disney’s ready to tackle that daring archeologist with his trusty whip.
With the release of Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One due this year, the famed director’s next slate of films is Indiana Jones 5 and the West Side Story remake. Spielberg is hoping to start filming Indy 5 in 2019, which is currently looking at a summer release date in 2020.
2 years ago Spielberg confirmed that he indeed was returning to helm part five and that Harrison Ford would indeed be returning.
No specific plot details have been revealed for Indiana Jones 5, but it has been confirmed that Shia LaBeouf will not reprise his role as Mutt Williams. And thank god. I’m sorry but LaBeouf was one of the numerous horrible things about Kingdom of The Crystal Skull.
Oh and this will be the first time that George Lucas will not receive a producing credit in the series. And word is Karen Allen won’t return to reprise her role as Marion Ravenwood. In case you forgot, Indy and Marion were finally married in Skull so it’s weird that they wouldn’t bring her back. We’ll just have to wait and find out what Spielberg does with Indy 5.
