“I don’t know anyone by that name!”

At the Aniplex of America industry panel at Kawaii Kon (Honolulu, HI), director of popular rom-com series Eromanga Sensei, Ryohei Takeshita, announced that the series will receive a Blu-ray release later this year. After garnering much popularity due to a highly successful streaming run in the spring of 2017, Eromanga Sensei quickly became one of the most talked about anime of the season last year. Aniplex of America also revealed that the Blu-ray releases will include a bevy of bonus contents including textless openings and endings, trailers, commercials and web previews. The Blu-ray releases are a must-have item for dedicatedEromanga Sensei fans with a Blu-ray box adorned with illustrations by Character Designer Hiroyuki Oda and case featuring the work of Original Illustrator Kanzakihiro. Pre-orders begin today with Blu-ray Volume 1 coming out on June 12th and Volume 2 on August 14th.

With the original light novel series released under ASCII Media Works’ Dengenki Bunko imprint in 2013, Eromanga Sensei was the highly anticipated work of Tsukasa Fushimi, author of the famed Oreimo series. Featuring an all-star ensemble, Eromanga Sensei casts Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online, Magi: The Kingdom of Magic) as Masamune Izumi, Akane Fujita (High School Fleet) as Sagiri Izumi, Minami Takahashi (Durarara!!×2) as Elf Yamada, and Saori Onishi (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, The irregular at magic high school) as Muramasa Senju. Renowned animation studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, ERASED) has partnered with Director Ryohei Takeshita to bring the hilarity of the light novels to life. In a 2017 review, Anime News Network writes that the series is “well-paced, the characters have rounded out to become interesting and likable, and the story has embraced the best parts of itself to become something worth watching.” The anime adaptation began airing in April 2017 and continued its 12-episode run into the summer, with an OVA announced for 2018.

Aniplex of America will also be hosting a special Eromanga Sensei Panel at Kawaii Kon on March 3rd, featuring special guests Director Ryohei Takeshita and the series’ lead voice actress Akane Fujita. Among other giveaways, those attending the panel will also receive the iconic Meruru mask, often seen on the main character, Sagiri, within the series.

About Eromanga Sensei:

Masamune Izumi is a high school student who professionally writes light novels. Sagiri Izumi is a shut-in who never leaves her room. One year ago, they became siblings when their parents married one another. However, one day, Masamune discovers a shocking twist—the artist “Eromanga Sensei,” who has been drawing illustrations for his novels, is none other than Sagiri. His cute little shut-in of a sister, who has been living under his roof, is using an obscene pen name and drawing lewd illustrations. But there’s no way his little sister could be this dirty?!
