Supergirl-32111

Supergirl-32111Supergirl officially closed out its third season last night on The CW as the Girl of Steel and her team faced Reign once and for all. In the recent week, we have had cast updates for the fourth season that will premiere this fall. As Jeremy Jordan’s Winn Schott is moving from series regular to guest recurring, Jesse Rath is set to be a full-time cast member as Brainiac 5.

However, that isn’t the only change in the Supergirl cast that we should expect. Right after the season finale aired, it was officially announced that Chris Wood, who has played Mon-El for the last two seasons, is exiting the series and is currently not set to recur as a guest for Season 4. In a post-mortem interview with TV Line, the showrunners, Robert Rovner spoke about the reasoning behind writing Mon-El out from the show.

“The plan for Chris was always to have him on the show for two years. We’ve loved telling Mon-El’s story, as well as the story we’ve told for him and Kara. We hope the fans felt that it was a satisfying conclusion. We love working with Chris, so we’d love to have Mon-El back someday if the story takes us there and if Chris is available.”

This isn’t the first time that an Arrowverse show has had a DC character exit after just two seasons. On Arrow, Colton Haynes, who plays Roy Harper a.k.a Arsenal, was signed on for two years between Season 2 and 3 as he exited the series at the end of Season 3. Haynes is however set to be a series regular again in Season 7 of the Green Arrow drama. Keiynan Lonsdale, who plays Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash on The Flash for 2 seasons and on Legends of Tomorrow for 1 season, revealed recently that he won’t be back as a full-time member on either show.

It remains to be seen what other cast changes we may see for Supergirl Season 4. A few weeks ago, we at That Hashtag Show revealed that the show is currently casting three new players, one who may be DC Comics’ Manchester Black. Are you sad that Mon-El is leaving the show? Do you want him to return in the future at some point?
