Do you dig giant robots?
If the answer was no, please leave…I’ll wait…
For the rest of you, Modus Games has a new robo battle game, Override: Mech City Brawl, coming out in December for Xbox, PS4, and PC December 4th.
Modus games is the creator for the Extinction game series.
Override: MCB features fully destructible city levels in real world places modeled on Egypt, San Fran, and Japan, because of course Japan needs to be on this list.
Override: MCB has twelve mechs that have their own abilities, as well as un-lockable skin type variants and accessories.
If you can’t wait till December to punch another robot enthusiast in the face, there is a closed beta going on it from August 10-12th.
You can pre-order Override: MCB starting today for £29.99. pre-orders will get the Super Charged Mega Edition. It comes with the season pass, legendary swag, four extra mechs, and some other cool stuff. Without the bells and whistles it’s £24.99…though probably worth getting the special edition if the game is a hit.
First trailer thoughts:
They preface right away that what is seen is just in alpha. Extra points right off the bat for being honest.
The robots look pretty dope, lots of various inspirations including the Gundam series.
The fighting looks like its going to be quick. Good. I’m sick of the slow moving combat trope in giant robo games.
It looks like melee weapons (Is that a fn chair in the trailer? LOL!) are going to be decently featured in the game, I can dig that.
There are some out there different looking robots, looking forward to seeing new artist perspective.
Grim reaper bot? YAS PLEASE!
Split screen is guuuuuuuuuuud
A game type of four players controlling one mech? Very power rangers, much wow. 10/10 will play that version (horribly most likely).
The story mode looks possibly gratuitous and extra…but the multiplayer looks like it’s going to be amazing.
Initial interest: 8/10
I don’t see it being an Esport game or anything just yet…But it does look like its going to be a hell of a lot of fun on the Twitch.
