In talking about why Solo matters, it’s easy to discuss Solo: A Star Wars Story solely in terms of Disney controversy and box office figures; those are the two subjects that have driven the Solo news cycle since the film’s release.

Lost in that conversation is the fact that Solo was an entertaining film that stands alone and apart from the episodic Star Wars saga. For some though, even that fact was a knock against it, with some critics questioning why the film was necessary in the first place.

Solo Matters.

If people take a step back and re-examine the film, perhaps when it’s released on Blu-ray next month, I think they’ll see it in a different light and come to understand why Solo: A Star Wars Story not only warrants a sequel, but why it, like Rogue One, matters in the grand scheme of Star Wars.
