Child’s Play Remake

Director Lars Klevberg recently teased on his Instagram the start of production for the Child’s Play remake. The now removed image featured a copy of Tyler Burton Smith’s script for the movie along with Chucky’s knife.

Child’s Play Franchise

MGM released the original film in 1988 and since then there has been six sequels.  The movies had varying levels of success and failure, the most recent installment being Cult Of Chucky (2017). With this remake MGM Productions is aiming to bring us a more high-tech version of Chucky, the murderous doll possessed by a psycho serial killer.

New Chucky

Screenplay writer Dan Mancini worked on all the scripts for the franchise.  This will be the first film to not be written by him.  Mancini also created scripts for television, including Tales from the Crypt and Hannibal.  Currently, he is developing  a Child’s Play TV series, separate from the current film, with the original voice actor for Chucky, Brad Dourif. For this reason, Dourif will not be Chucky in the new film adaption.  The series will be eight hour-long episodes continuing the original Chucky franchise.
