The CW’s Arrowverse are less than two months away from returning to our TV screens, including the brand new season of The Flash! This season features the fastest man alive against the mysterious Cicada who will be played by Chris Klein while Team Flash also deals with the arrival of Nora West-Allen, Barry and Iris’ daughter…from the future!
As we are getting closer to the new season, more details are coming out about what to expect in the new season. That Hashtag Show revealed a few months ago that we were most likely going to get Cicada as the big bad for Season 5. Now we have another foe that will make his jump from the comics to the small screen! So what DC Comics character are we seeing appear in an episode this season? Meet Peter Merkel a.k.a. Rag Doll, a classic Flash baddie who was a foe of the Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick.
The casting call is searching for a male in his 20s as Peter is described as an incredibly emotional damaged criminal who has the power to bend out of shape and fit his whole body into small spaces. As he is enjoying his criminal activities, Team Flash will be challenged by the Rag Doll in shocking ways as his sick plan is revealed. The breakdown specifies that they would ideally like to get actual Contortionists/Dancers or any kinds of performers who are able to contort their bodies in very disturbing ways.
Created by Gardner Fox, Peter Merkel made his comic book debut in Flash Comics #36 back in December 1942. The title of Rag Doll has been passed on from on Merkel to another as his son Peter Merkel Jr. has gone by the name as the modern Rag Doll in DC Comics. For now, it appears that Rag Doll is only set to appear in one episode of Season 5, but only time will tell if we might see more of him after his debut on the show. If you haven’t seen it already, catch the new trailer for Season 5 below!
The Flash Season 5 is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 9 at 8/7c on The CW! Are you excited to see the introduction of Rag Doll in the fifth season? Who would you like to see play Rag Doll?
