Ant-Man and The Wasp star Evangeline Lilly has officially decided that she does not want her character of Hope Van Dyne, The Wasp, to receive her own solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Evangeline Lilly has stated that she does not have the desire to star in a solo movie for Marvel Studios as The Wasp. This is due to her wanting to respect the characters comic book origins as she sees The Wasp as a companion to Ant-Man and does not feel like they should be separated.

Speaking at Fan Expo Boston, Lilly said that The Wasp and Ant-Man have always been a team, so to pull them apart would be going against the comics lore. She also said that it would lose a sense of partnership in the comic book genre which is lacking. Lilly believes that losing Ant-Man would sacrifice some of the best elements of the film, it would lose the banter between the two heroes which is a big draw to them as a pair.

Evangeline Lilly did make one exception regarding this subject though. She stated that if the opportunity arose of a mostly female hero movie, then she would be willing to step away from Scott Lang. There have been a lot of push recently for an all female Avengers film with many stars of the MCU such as our Captain Marvel; Brie Larson being a big advocate as she has pitched the idea to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.

This line up would supposedly feature characters such as Black Widow, Scarlett Witch, Okoye, Captain Marvel and more. Should this all female Avengers team up movie happen, you can guarantee that you will see Evangeline Lilly show up as The Wasp to get in on the action. This would be a nice wink to the comics as The Wasp was a founding member of the Avengers and was supposed to take up Black Widow’s slot on the team for the first movie.

However if you were holding out hopes for Hope Van Dyne to suit up in any solo adventures, it seems like it won’t be happening any time soon.
