Star Wars: Episode IX is going to be epic. It will, at least, according to its stars. John Boyega has already told us that the film will be “visually crazy“. Now Oscar Isaac has chimed in with his analysis of the production. While the stars of a movie are naturally going to be biased, there does seem to be a genuine enthusiasm for the final Star Wars episodic film we didn’t see the last time out with The Last Jedi.  That excitement is giving fans hope.

Oscar Isaac, as we know, has portrayed hot-shot pilot Poe Dameron since the opening scenes of The Force Awakens. Granted, he did suffering more of a character regression than progression in The Last Jedi. Notwithstanding, the character should now be poised to lead the Resistance in a last-ditch effort to topple the First Order. Getting to that point has apparently been “the most fun it’s been” for the actor of the entire sequel trilogy.

Oscar Isaac Gushes Over Episode IX

Given the turn Poe Dameron’s character arc took in The Last Jedi, it’s incredibly refreshing to see Oscar Isaac this giddy over the Skywalker saga’s final installment. The way he tells it, fans will be left awestruck by Episode IX’s conclusion:

“It was the most fun it’s been. There was just an energy and a looseness and excitement to the whole production…. And knowing that this was the conclusion of not only our time there but the nine stories, these nine episodes of the Skywalker Saga, it’s incredible. And I think people are gonna be just blown away.”

In sharing those thoughts with the Associated Press, Oscar Isaac expressed the kind of sentiment for which fans were hoping. Remember, JJ Abrams hasn’t explicitly said that he’d correct the perceived issues with The Last Jedi. However, he did indicate that the “story speaks for itself.” Reading between the lines of his full comments (which you can see HERE), Abrams seems to suggest he did return to the original story line he proposed from the beginning.

Regardless of how Abrams handles the film, one thing is obvious: the stars, from Boyega, to Oscar Isaac and others, are all extremely excited about the final production. Let’s hope we will be, too.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens December 20th of this year.
