Live (recorded) from the Hollywood Bowl, it’s Wyld Stallyns!! Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves announced today that Bill and Ted Face The Music would begin shooting this Summer. Thanking fans of the films for their support and they explain that it was because of them that this film has become a reality. The video ends with a card stating the film would be coming out in the Summer of 2020.

The film has been in development for a LONG time and fans were beginning to wonder if it would actually ever happen. Back in 2014, while discussing the first John Wick film with Coming Soon, Keanu had mentioned that the first script for the film would have needed a budget of $150 million. Obviously that’s not the script they went with. The new script was much closer to, if not the same as what they’ve got now. . . 5 years later. There’s actually a lot of interesting bits in that interview including discussing his role in Passengers (the role eventually went to Chris Pratt) and fans wanting him to take on Doctor Strange in the MCU.

Be Excellent To Each Other

The last time Alex and Keanu were on screen together was in 1993’s Freaked. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend the movie, it’s ridiculous. It might take you a bit to figure out who Keanu is, but once you figure it out, it just gets even better. Outside of the two Bill & Ted films, they also lent their voices to the animated series, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures. Reeves, Winter, and George Carlin were all there for the first season, but when DIC took over from Hanna-Barbera for season 2, the entire cast was replaced.

2020 is shaping up to be a great year for nostalgia. 80’s/90’s kids are geting both Ghostbusters 3 and now Bill and Ted Face the Music. While there is a small voice in the back of my mind warning me not to get too excited. . . I just can’t help it. But, what about you guys? Are you excited to see the Wyld Stallyns back together? Let us know.
