Dominik Dijakovic deleted his twitter account following a very controversial post. With the last series of television tapings for NXT being completed, we learned more about where Dijakovic’s character was headed. Or at least we thought. He cut a promo speaking about how his family had immigrated to the United States. He also stated he wanted to win the NXT North American Championship, and promptly challenged Velveteen Dream. A challenge that Dream accepted.

Dijakovic’s tweet might have stalled his career

All that seems like a pretty standard story line, but then Dijakovic took to twitter. In a tweet which he also tagged President Donald Trump, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau he said the following:

This continent has everything backwards. This is a diseased environment that breeds impurity. The streets are almost as filthy as the inhabitants. I would know, I’ve lived the majority of my life here. I owe it to myself and my family to Purify this wasteland.

This tweet lasted less than thirty minutes before Dijakovic removed it. Shortly after that, he deleted his twitter completely. There hasn’t been much news on if Dijakovic acted on his own, or if this was part of his new character. From the NXT tapings, it seems that nothing this problematic or controversial was said. So one could possibly conclude he acted on his own.

The phrase “purify this wasteland” is not to be taken lightly. It’s wording that Nazis and “white nationalists” have used, and it makes people feel unsafe. Dijakovic can be a convincing heel without using these phrases. The backlash that happened on social media will more than likely have NXT rethinking this new gimmick.
