That’s right Hamilton fans. Lin-Manuel Miranda dropped the news today that Disney is releasing the long-awaited musical on July 3rd, 2020, one year ahead of its originally reported theatrical release exclusively to DISNEY+!

Really?! That’s amazing!

I know! This, in turn, is also a smart move on Disney’s part as the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Hollywood. Disney has had to push back much of its original programming back a year leaving subscribers in a lurch till production can start again of shows like Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, or the highly anticipated and rumor mill filled The Mandolorian Season 2.

This could also help Disney recoup some lost profits as they are losing money daily with the shut down of the parks. The general public will finally get to see the award-winning, record, and genre-breaking production in the comfort of their own home! You won’t have to pay hundreds on a night out in the theater but just a subscription fee.

Some of us are fortunate enough to have a long term subscription upon the announcement of Disney+ but can you imagine how many people are going to over the next few weeks sign up for Disney plus JUST to see Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Original Broadway cast, rap their way across the stage boards!

Disney paid a reported $75 Million for the distribution rights to the show. Instead of sitting on it till October 2021, they are making a power play with this powerhouse! They are definitely not “Throwing away their shot!”
