There were only a few films I was looking forward to enjoy in the theaters this summer, and on top of that list was Ghostbusters: Afterlife. After the debacle that was the 2016 Ghostbusters “remake”, when Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman, got the go ahead to make an all new sequel to the original I couldn’t have been more excited.

Ivan Reitman, Jason Reitman and the cast.

With the COVID-19 pandemic happening, Afterlife had to be postponed till 2021. One good thing actually came out of this pandemic and that’s the ability to communicate with anyone via Zoom conference calls, and actor Josh Gad has taken advantage of it.

Gad started a new You tube series called Reunited Apart, where he reunites famous casts from 80’s films like The Goonies, Back to the Future, and Splash This week we were treated with a Ghostbusters reunion.

Josh Gad, Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman and Annie Potts.

The Awesome Ghostbusters Reunion For Afterlife

During the reunion Gad asked Reitman if he could reveal any details on the upcoming Afterlife,

I’ve been spending my days editing GHOSTBUSTERS, so that’s where I’ve been.”

JOSH GAD: You guys have been working on a little sequel. Can you tell us anything, and if so, what can you tell us? Jason?
JASON REITMAN: Yeah, no, I can’t tell you anything, but we are working on another installment.

When Ivan Reitman brought up not being able to make that original July 10th release his son when on to explain how fortunate it’s been having this extra time.

Things have changed and we have a little bit more time. As a director, I’ve never had this opportunity, to actually kind of take a pause and breathe and look at the movie again. It’s been extraordinarily valuable, and we have a lot of time now. We’re coming out in 2021.”

This actually gets me more excited for next year. To see the full episode of the special Ghostbusters episode of Reunited Apart check it out below.
