The news about Call of Duty 2020 has been slow this year. In a normal, non-pandemic year, we’d probably be gearing up for a beta test of the new game. But with reports of development issues at Activision, the game has taken longer to show up. In the first teaser for the game, it showed up in Warzone for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now we had an article about the leaks for Call of Duty 2020 awhile ago, but this is the first indication that the new game’s reveal could be incoming.

Call of Duty

Now that looks and sounds a LOT like the old style for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Russian text that says “Doomed to repeat it”, also signals to the reboot of the classic Treyarch Call of Duty franchise. It remains to be seen how these encounters are happening or if they’re just random events in the Warzone map.

This other teaser is evocative of Black Ops as well. It’s a small detail, but this almost certainly signals the oncoming announcement of the next game in the long-running shooter series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was a hugely successful game that set records for numbers of players and sales in the franchise. The previous game Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was also extremely successful. So here’s to hoping that this one lives up to both of those games success. We don’t have any further details about a specific release date, or even what the game is called. Previous leaks and a Doritos bag (yes a bag of Doritos is leaking Call of Duty games now), seem to point to a Black Ops revival. This imagery pushes that even further.
