Snyder had this to say about it.

This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan. t’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.

Zack Snyder to THR

The film started off as a Star Wars pitch that Snyder had and grew from there. Snyder, Hatten, and Johnstad all worked on the script and built out the universe. Netflix hopes to start production in early 2022. Other than that, there aren’t any other details available about the film.
