Well, it looks like the star of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, one Benedict Cumberbatch, is quite excited about the film. So much so that he decided to blab about it on radio.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.
Quite a cheerful fellow, isn’t he?

During The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, as reported by MovieWeb, Benedict Cumberbatch let slip some choice tidbits about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. No spoilers though. Cumberbatch is very good about not letting slip any spoilers. This statement is no different. Cumberbatch does mention director Sam Raimi in his statement, and in a good way. The statement reads:

I will say, Sam Raimi is a master of this genre and yet his presence, his friendship, his directing, all of it, he was just really, really brilliant, and an amazing, amazing cast of returning regulars, and… that’s all I can say, cause that could get me into trouble. It’s pretty bonkers, I will say the clue is in the title, it is the Multiverse of Madness, it’s pretty far out.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Definitely Looking Forward to Multiverse of Madness

Since there is still no official trailer for Multiverse of Madness, this is the next best thing.

Based off of these comments from Benedict Cumberbatch, Sam Raimi sounds like he did a wonderful job with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A “pretty bonkers” and “far out” job, but a good job nonetheless. Funnily enough, this would be in spite of Raimi not being the director of the original Doctor Strange. Scott Derrickson was the director there, and he was also originally the director for the sequel as well. Sadly, Derrickson stepped out from that role back in January 2020 due to “creative differences”, with him staying on only as an executive producer, according to Variety.

After that, Sam Raimi took over the helm of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Again, we have no exact details about what the film will be like, thanks to the efforts of people like Benedict Cumberbatch. We do have hints though, that the film will be a true horror film as opposed to the first movie and the other Marvel films. I suppose we’ll just have to see if this is true when the film comes out on March 22, 2022.

Conclusion

Benedict Cumberbatch has some good things to say about Sam Raimi and the way he directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Apparently, it’s “bonkers” and “far out”, but in a very good way. We will just have to wait for March 22, 2022 to see if this Marvel film lives up to its hype.
