Wait, you’re not Thor.

Dark Horse Comics officially announces the comic book adaptation of Hellboy: The Bones of Giants. Dark Horse planned this for the 20th anniversary of the publication of the novel of the same name by Christopher Golden. Speaking of Golden, he will be one of the writers of this comic book adaptation alongside the original creator of Hellboy: Mike Mignola. Matt Smith (Barbarian Lord) will be the artist, Christ O’Halloran (Ice Cream Man) will be the colorist, and Clem Robins will be the letterer.

Hellboy: The Bones of Giants will be a 4-part comic book series. The first issue will go on sale on November 3, 2021. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to preorder the comic book as of this writing. We will just have to wait for more information from Dark Horse Comics on that later.

Hellboy: The Bones of Giants ~ Details

Ah, the classics are the best. Seriously. By all accounts, there’s no point to watching the 2019 reboot.

So what is Hellboy: The Bones of Giants about? Well, in this comic book and novel, Hellboy basically becomes Thor. Yes, really. With the whole Mjolnir thing and all. If you’re a fan of Norse mythology, this might be the comic for you. Dark Horse Comics has an official synopsis here:

In Hellboy: The Bones of Giants, lightning strikes from a clear sky on a frozen riverbank in Sweden. The skeleton of a huge man is revealed, his fingers clutched around the handle of an iron hammer. No one who comes to see this marvel from Norse mythology can move it. No one, that is, but Hellboy, who lifts the hammer just in time for lightning to strike again, welding it to his hand and leading him toward a bizarre series of visions and encounters. What ensues is a wild adventure full of Norse legends, mythical creatures, and a threat that could bring not just Earth, but the Nine Realms of Norse mythology to their knees.
