Locked somewhere in a vault, the sessions from the Get Back recordings with The Beatles were a superfan’s holy grail. That is until Peter Jackson found out about them. He and his team painstakingly went through the nearly 60 hours of footage to get the documentary Get Back. Starting next Wednesday, November 25th, and continuing into the next two days, Get Back is a Beatles fan’s dream. The January 1969 recording sessions showcase the band at their best and near the end of their time together. The bonds of friendship between Paul, Ringo, George, and John are tested to their limit here.

During the press conference for the documentary, Peter Jackson answered questions and gave small details about what fans can expect about the documentary. The biggest one was the length of the documentary. While it’s listed as about 6 hours across three days, Jackson stated that it’s much closer to 8 hours. So Beatles fans are getting the most extended look into making one of the most seminal albums ever.

The documentary also doesn’t sugar-coat or spin anything for a modern opinion. There’s no new narration, no new interviews. Instead, the story is told by the Beatles, as they were in 1969. It’s produced by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, Jonathan Clyde, Clare Olssen, and Peter Jackson.

First Times, Song Progresion, And More With Get Back

Without spoiling any of the most significant moments of the documentary, Jackson said that fans can expect footage of the first time some of the Beatles best songs were ever played. There are also smaller, more intimate moments between the legendary band members. Whatever preconceived notions you might have about the Beatles and their final days together are likely shattered by this documentary. John, Paul, Ringo, and George were all the best of friends, but moving away from one another as adults.

Get Back releases on Disney+ this November 25th, with the next two episodes premiering on Thursday, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th.
