“History does not remember blood. It remembers names,” says the new teaser for HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series.

Not sure that I agree with the sentiment as a whole, but hey, the Targaryen name is one I remember. And the new series House of the Dragon wants to solidify that name even further. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series explores a pivotal time for House Targaryen, 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Today, HBO released a first-look teaser for the series. Check it out below:

We got a hint from the previously released images for House of the Dragon as to what the show would look like. Now, seeing the teaser trailer, it’s clear this series comes from the GOT universe. It very much has a similar look, feel, and sound.

(Hopefully, it will not have a similarly botched ending.)

The series stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans.

House of the Dragon will have ten episodes in its first season. The series officially premieres August 21 on HBO. It will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
