Ever wondered what the Belle anime film would look like on Blu-ray? Well, now you can stop wondering. GKIDS has you covered here.

The Belle of the Blu-ray

There’s something strangely appropriate about this 3D image, given the nature of that virtual world they’re in.

GKIDS is proud to announce the release of Belle for Blu-ray and digital download. For the latter, you can download it from all major digital platforms like iTunes starting from May 3, 2022. On average, the pricing is lower than the physical version, especially if you’re looking to rent the anime film. Thus, this is your go-to option if you’re short on cash.

If you want the physical Blu-ray version of Belle though, then you’re in luck. GKIDS just released their Blu-ray and DVD combo pack yesterday; as is the case with the physical version of the anime film in general. You can purchase it directly from the GKIDS online store for $24.99.

If you want the Shiny and Chrome version of Belle though, then check out the Target-exclusive Steelbook version from GKIDS, which you can purchase from Shout! Factory for $26.98. Not only does the Steelbook version come in that durable metal case you expect Steelbooks to come in, but you can even get a gorgeous poster with it. The posters are in limited supply, so if you want it, you might want to hurry up and purchase this Steelbook. You can check out the actual poster below to see if it might interest you:

It’s too bad this scene never actually happens in the film.

Belle: Details

Basically, think of this as Ready Player One meets Beauty and the Beast.

Belle is the 6th original anime film from acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children) and his Studio Chizu. This science fantasy film features Nozomu Takahashi, Yuichiro Saito, Toshimi Tanio, and Genki Kawamura as the producers behind it. Taisei Iwasaki, Ludwig Forssell, Yuta Bandoh, and Miho Sakai are responsible for the amazing music you hear throughout the anime film. The film stars Kaho Nakamura as the titular Suzu Naito/Belle, while Kylie McNeill voices her in the English dub.

And don’t forget the pretty costumes Belle wears in the film.

As for what Belle is about? Well, GKIDS has a synopsis for us to detail that. Check it out below:

“Suzu is a shy, everyday high school student living in a rural village. For years, she has only been a shadow of herself. But when she enters “U”, a massive virtual world, she escapes into the online persona of Belle, a gorgeous and globally-beloved singer. One day, her concert is interrupted by a monstrous creature chased by vigilantes. As their hunt escalates, Suzu embarks on an emotional and epic quest to uncover the identity of this mysterious “beast” and to discover her true self in a world where you can be anyone.”
