Madame Web is shaping up to be the biggest of the Spider-Man spinoffs that Sony has planned. The cast is large and includes stars like Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, and Adam Scott, now, the film has a new release date. It was previously set for Summer 2023 and will now release on October 6th, 2023. In addition to that spinoff, Insidious 5 from director/star Patrick Wilson comes on the previous July 7th, 2023 release date for Madame Web.

Madame Web is all about the Spider-Man character with psychic/clairvoyant powers that are similar to Doctor Strange. However, the project looks like it’ll change up the age of the titular character a bit. After all, in the comics, the Madame was too old to actually physically fight any villains. We don’t know who Sydney Sweeney is playing in the film yet, and the same for Adam Scott’s role.

This is a puzzling move to move the tentpole superhero film from a July release date and not put the horror film in the October slot. Other films announced or moving dates are The Pope’s Exorcist coming on April 7th, 2023, a George Foreman biopic moving up to March 31st, 2023, A Man Called Otto heading to December 14th, 2022, 65 going to April 28th, 2023. Finally, Sony moved an untitled Marvel film to June 7th, 2024 from the October 6 slot that Insidious 5 took.

Sony also has Venom 3 starring Tom Hardy in development and Kraven The Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson coming in January 2023.
