The Sega Genesis Mini 2 was announced a little while back and the most exciting thing about it was that it would include Sega CD games in the overall package. Now, Sega has announced the full game lineup for the system of 60 games. Check out the trailer below for the entire game list.
Pre-orders are still open for the device through Amazon. If you pre-ordered before, the price has also changed from around $103-110 to $99.99. If you want to lock in that savings of $3-7, you have to cancel your previous pre-order and make a new one. There is a risk in that, that you’ll be put back further in the pre-order line, so be wary. As for the games, it looks like an excellent mix of classic Sega Genesis titles, some Sega CD classics, and games that were badly in need of better legal availability. Something like Crusader of Centy, which retails for over $300 for just the loose cartridge is worth the price of admission here alone.
People will focus on the games that weren’t included here like Lunar, Snatcher, and Popful Mail. We have yet to see a good legal way to play Snatcher in the US outside of emulation so that one stings a bit to not be included here. This game list is a pretty good mix of titles and genres though. So even if we didn’t get the real heavy hitters that the Japanese console is getting, we should still be happy.
If you want a Sega Genesis Mini 2, you should probably pre-order as it’ll have a much smaller print run than the Japanese Sega Genesis Mini 2, coming in at around 1/10th of the units for the West. Pre-order from their official website: https://sega.jp/genesismini2/.
