It’s become the norm ever since Disney purchased Star Wars that every director that helmed one of the latest films reviews he other. JJ did it for Gareth Edwards, Edwards and Abrams both did it for Johnson’s The Last Jedi and now Johnson gives his own glowing review for Ron Howard’s SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. It’s already known that Johnson will be helming his own trilogy after Episode IX so I’m sure we’ll getting more and more of these reviews so get used to it. Johnson already mentioned back in March that he had already saw a cut of Solo and he thought it was great so this latest review isn’t all that surprising.

He took to Instagram to post his review, he said:

Donald Glover is great in it, but duh! Alden is terrific, he’s not doing a Harrison Ford impersonation but he brings his own charm and swagger to the character. The big surprise for me was Phoebe Waller-Bridge ( Bridge-Weller?) who has a few of the funniest moments I’ve ever seen in a STAR WARS movie. I had never watched Flea Bag( I know I Know I need to watch it- I’m loving killing Eve but she’s not in that, she only wrote it) so it was a pleasant surprise. The action scenes are great true. But who’s going to read this and take me seriously? I’d like to think I’d still be honest but it’s not like you’re going to come to my Instagram story for had edged film criticism on a STAR WARS film. See it though, it’s super fun. I should get back to writing. Jesus what have I typed.

Reactions came rolling in about two hours after the premiere, and on the whole, they pretty much all agree that the film is “fun” and that star Alden Ehrenreich is, at the very least, good in the role. You’ll have our first reviews here on That Hashtag Show next week.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters on May 25.
