There have been two main characters that have been familiar faces in every Star Wars film for over 40 years, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Even when you haven’t expected them they pop, case in point ROGUE ONE. It was just last week that Mark Hamill revealed that his good friend Anthony Daniels would indeed be in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY but what wasn’t mentioned was if it was as 3PO or just another character. Well we can now confirm that for the first time ever C-3PO will not be in a Star Wars film. But don’t cry for Daniels just yet, Father-and-son screenwriters for the Han Solo movie Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan revealed over the weekend that Daniels, the man behind the droid, does make a cameo in the Han Solo movie, making him, not C-3PO, the only person to appear in all ten (!) main Star Wars movies.

Now I know what you’re wondering, who is Anthony Daniels playing instead of 3PO? Remember that wookie that seems to giving Chewbacca a hug in one of the most memorable scenes to come out of the second trailer? Yup you guessed it! “In the Papillon type offshoot story, the Wookiee that helps them escape, Chewbacca’s best friend, is played by Anthony Daniels – and beckons him to join them as they escape on a different ship,” Jonathan Kasdan explains.

So keep you eyes peeled for this fun cameo guys. I’m glad they found a way to still include Daniels in some capacity just so he can say he’s been in all ten STAR WARS films, how amazing is that? I mean it would be pretty hard to figure out putting in R2 and C-3PO in this film, it just wouldn’t make sense to just place them in just any scene. You’ll have to wait until next week to see who else gets the SOLO treatment. Maybe a famous Bounty Hunter or two will make an appearance?
