What George Lucas started with Star Wars was incredible amalgam of fantasy, mythology, modern day and future technologies, and a form of story telling that had not been attempted since the days of early fantasies like Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. What George started others have continued, and in the process have created story arcs that often go unnoticed and unrecognized in their quality and depth.

Here are our top 5 character journeys/story arcs within the Star Wars universe. George started most of these, but you will find “The Great Apprentice” Dave Filoni has also had a major hand in a lot of these journeys. There were a surprising number to choose from so finding the last slot was rather difficult.

Honorable Mentions: Rex, Hera, Ezra, Han, Leia, Luke, Palpatine

With this list I try to stay away from the obvious story lines. Its easy to have a great story when you are the main character of the franchise. I am also trying to keep this to current canon. Otherwise it opens a whole new bag of worms that would be overwhelming to sort through.

#5: Sabine Wren

Sabine’s story included in this list because she goes from a galactic nobody running from her past and transforms into a major force in the Mandelorian war and the Rebel Alliance. The emotional growth she goes through and her constant use of art to express herself made her one of the more endearing characters on Rebels.
