Jean-Luc Picard is Back! Just announced at Star Trek Las Vegas, Patrick Stewart will be starring in a new Star Trek series focused on the next chapter of Jean-Luc Picard’s life. In a surprise announcement, Stewart himself made the reveal:

“I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course,” Stewart said. “It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over.”

These talks about a new Star Trek series have obviously been going on for some time now, remember a few months ago when Patrick Stewart said he may finally have a good reason to watch Discovery? Of course, there’s not a whole lot of information available just yet, no title, start of production, or air date has been announced, only that it will air on CBS’s digital streaming service, CBS All Access.

Captain Picard Returns For a New Star Trek Series

Hopefully, this show will satiate the appetite of Star Trek fans who were hoping for a series that would take place after the Star Trek: Nemesis, the last film in the TNG era. Due to the timeframe of the show, it will also allow for the return of cast members from not just TNG, but also DS9 and Voyager. The only real information we have on what any of those guys have been doing since their seasons ended is that Janeway is now an Admiral, as seen towards the beginning of Nemesis.

So, what do you guys think? Are you excited to see the return of Picard? Let me know your thoughts in the comments or hit me up on Twitter and let’s chat about it!
