STAR WARS: Top 5 Moments From the Prequel Trilogy

4.  Vader’s Transformation.

In Revenge of the Sith we finally get to see the final steps of Anakin Skywalker’s descent into darkness. Anaklin languishes near death in excruciating pain. Medical droids affix to his charred body the bionic limbs that would make him, as Obi-Wan would later remark, “more machine now, than man, twisted and evil.” Anakin Skywalker ceases to exist and Darth Vader rises in his place.

The scene in which we see Vader’s mask go on from the first-person perspective was well played out, indeed. Likewise, the sound fading to silence before we hear Vader take that first breath through his new breathing apparatus, was chilling. (For our purposes we’re going to ignore the rest of the scene as a whole. You know what I’m talking about.)
