Due to a recent prequel comic series, we were led to believe that the next instalment into the Die Hard franchise would be titled “Year One“. However according to producer Lorenzo diBonaventura, that is not the case.
Lorenzo diBonaventura recently spoke with Empire and revealed that the latest instalment into the Die Hard franchise will be officially titled McClane.
Along with the title reveal, diBonaventura revealed that the film will flip flop between a younger version of John McClane and and older, more veteran John McClane.
“We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before. I don’t know how you do Die Hard without Bruce – the idea that he’s not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version.”
Bruce Willis is looking to reprise his role of McClane however we are not quite sure if the younger John McClane will be played by Bruce Willis himself using de-ageing technology or if they will cast a younger for the role.
Either way this film will definitely be heading in a different and fresh direction for the Die Hard franchise. It seems like this fresh new direction is the right move for the franchise however as A Good Day To Die Hard was panned by critics and people began to fear that the franchise had grown stale, but McClane is looking to change things up for the better.
