Hyperspace jumps for the cast

We all have dreams about sitting in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon while it jumps into hyperspace. Some of us may have even gone out of our way to drive at night when it is snowing to get that feeling as the snow rushes by the windshield. Well the cast from SOLO: A Star Wars Movie was able to get a hands on feel of what it would be like to make that jump.

Han’s first time in the Millennium Falcon

In an exclusive clip from SOLO: A Star Wars Story released by io9.gizmodo.com, we get to see how they made the jump to hyperspace so real for the cast. You can see that clip by clicking here.

The best thing about this clip is you see a Young Han Solo experience his first jump to hyperspace. It is fun to look at the expression on Han’s face as Lando and L3 pull back the throttle and the stars zoom past the cockpit. At this moment you knew Han fell in love with the Falcon.

The Movie Set

What makes this scene special is when you see Alden Ehrenreich react. You can tell that it is likely a genuine expression. This is because of the SOLO production crew. They built a life like Millennium Falcon cockpit simulator. The rig was built so it can spin turn and rattle. They had screens set up around the cockpit to project high quality images that looked like you were in space. The production crews’ goal was to make it as real as possible and they did an amazing job.
