DOCTOR WHO AND TORCHWOOD

Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who series is coming to a close.  But Who fans can continue the adventures through time and space in Big Finish’s upcoming audio adventures.  Fan favorite actor John Barrowman is back in a Big Finish Torchwood revival series.

JOHN OF THE JUNGLE

John Barrowman is making life fabulous in the jungle on this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!  He’s giving producers head-aches by singing songs in the jungle that require royalty fees.  If that’s not enough outrageous Barrowman, get ready for his return to Doctor Who and Captain Jack in audio form.  Big Finish teased (via Express)

“He romps with older Jack’s holographic disguise, he gets it on again with Alonso Frame.”
“He travels back in time to warn his younger self of danger – and gets sidetracked by continually having sex with himself!”
“Gets it on with a robot version of Outlander’s Steven Cree – in front of the human version of Outlander’s Steven Cree!”
“In one story he has three threesomes with Captain John and Queen Alexandra, Christopher Marlowe and Alexander the Great.”
“Jack becomes the victim of a contagion, a virus which makes you horny then homicidal – meaning he spends an hour trying to kill his boyfriend Ianto Jones ‘sexily’.”
“There’s still a shrine in Cardiff for Jack’s fallen lover, Ianto. He also destroys a sex bot while exploring his pleasures.”
“Captain Jack was once s*****d to death by an alien tapeworm – don’t worry though, he’s immortal.”

The BBC currently is not involved in the new project.  Considering the risqué subject matter, the project may have to be distanced from the Doctor Who brand.

DOCTOR WHO EASTER EGG

In the third episode of Jodie Whittaker’s new Who series, ‘Rosa,’ ex-con Krasko uses a familiar vortex manipulator.  It’s the same wrist-mounted time machine used Captain Jack Harkness in his first Who appearance, 2005’s ‘The Empty Child.’  The standard Time Agent equipment has reappeared in ‘Human Nature,’ ‘The Pandorica Opens,’ ‘The Day of the Doctor,’ and ‘The Magician’s Apprentice.’

Commenting on the nod to the good Captain, Barrowman said, “It shows you how much Captain Jack Harkness is loved, and it also shows you how much people want to see Captain Jack Harkness, whether that be on Torchwood or on Doctor Who.”  He continued, “They’re still talking about him. And for me, the actor who helped create that character, that is probably one of the biggest pats on the back that I will ever receive.  It put a huge big smile on my face, and I was really pleased at that.”

RETURNING TO WHO

Barrowman talked about his love to bring back Torchwood last month (via RadioTimes.com) “I actually wrote to Chris and I said to him, ‘would he be interested in being a part of something like that?’ Or something like that, I can’t remember how the email went.”

“He emailed me back, and he said ‘As you probably know, I’m in the middle of something very big at the moment, and I can’t discuss anything else.’ But he said ‘Let’s talk when things calm down a bit.’ And that was just at the beginning of his negotiations for Doctor Who.”  Barrowman finished, “Who knows? If anyone can do it, it’s Chris.”  On possibly being invited back to Doctor Who, he said, “And who knows? If I were asked back, I would do it at the drop of a hat.”
