On May 25th, 1977 a movie arrived in theatres that became the inspiration for generations to come. This would go on to launch films, TV shows, TV movies, books, comics and one special that still lives in infamy. It has influenced every corner of media from music to art and it even has its own religion. Go to any public gathering and you will see fashion as well as tattoos dedicated to it. It has dominated pop culture like no other product often imitated, copied, and ripped off. This is Star Wars. Sadly, however, the Skywalker saga of Star Wars is coming to an end.
My Skywalker Saga Marathon
The Skywalker saga comes to a close with the world premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 16th, 2019. To celebrate the majesty and universe that was created I will journey to a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and relive the epic story that is Star Wars. I will watch the following movies and TV shows leading to December 19th when I will watch Episode 9. I have been told that including the TV shows in with the movies chronologically increases the impact of the events. My viewing order of the Skywalker saga is as follows:
- The Phantom Menace (Episode I)
- Attack of the Clones (Episode II)
- Star Wars: The Clone Wars
- Revenge of the Sith (Episode III)
- Solo: A Star Wars Story
- Star Wars Rebels
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
- A New Hope (Episode IV)
- The Empire Strikes Back (Episode V)
- Return of the Jedi (Episode VI)
- Star Wars Resistance
- The Force Awakens (Episode VII)
- The Last Jedi (Episode VIII)
The long-awaited launch of Disney+ now makes any Star Wars re-watch incredibly simple. With its treasury of Star Wars movies, TV shows, shorts, and specials anyone can customize their viewing experience to their liking. My interest in this marathon watch is the Skywalker saga and the lineage of Anakin Skywalker. However, I also look forward to learning about the Ghost and Ashoka Tano.
