It is common knowledge now that Loki is getting his own Disney+ series. Considering that current Loki actor Tom Hiddleston was at SDCC for the announcement, the assumption is that he would continue in that role. However, recent Internet rumor is that Marvel is looking to introduce a younger version of the character. So that begs the question, is Hiddleston leaving the role and if he does who will replace him?
Tom Hiddleston has been playing the character of Loki since the first Thor film in 2011. He has already appeared in 6 movies over the last 10 years. Considering that actors like Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans have now exited the MCU, it wouldn’t be surprising. that he may want to pursue other things. Either way, I think it is safe to say we’ll definitely see him in appear in some way in an upcoming Marvel Studios film or series.
Who Could Fill Loki’s Shoes?
Sources are reporting that Marvel Studios is eyeing Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard. Wolfhard would portray a younger version of Loki. The article states this is the same source that informed them that there would be a Spiderman cameo in Venom 2. Reports are that Kid Loki will be introduced into the MCU very soon. Fan theory suggests that the shape-shifting Loki will shift into a version of his younger self and simply get stuck in that form.
Finn Wolfhard would make sense as a young Loki given the recent trajectory of his career. Since his popular portrayal of Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things he has appeared in both It movies, The Goldfinch and also lent his voice to the animated version of The Adams Family. In addition, he has two anticipated films coming out in 2020 with The Turning and Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
