That’s right! The long-time video game company wants to give you an immersive experience like no other that has been on US shores.
Atari? Who’s That?
The Atari name has be around since the early 1970’s. The company itself has had an interestingly tumultuous history, to say the least. Duringthe video game crash of 1983, Atari had to dust off the ashes and rise again. After being split, sold and bought several times over the past 40 years and being bounced around like the game Pong, Atari filed for bankruptcy.
The classic video game company has been at the cornerstone of the home video game market. But being the rock that our consoles are built on, the granddaddy of gaming was able to save themselves from going under.
The first location is going to be in Pheonix, AZ. Close to the chief investor’s, True North Studios, home office. It makes some sense to start your pilot program off the strip. If you’re going to invest the capital into an eventual seven more locations, why not start in Las Vegas? Where you know you’ll get the traffic just because it’s Las Vegas! Maybe it’s a safe bet to keep it close to the chest as the group hasn’t even finished building their first hotel let alone running it.
What Will It Offer?
We don’t know much, at this time, only concept art and a press release saying:
“We are thrilled to partner with GSD Group and True North Studio to build the first-ever Atari branded hotels across the United States. Together we’ll build a space that will be much more than just a place to stay,” “Atari is an iconic global brand that resonates with people of all ages, countries, cultures and ethnic backgrounds and we cannot wait for our fans and their families to enjoy this new hotel concept.”Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari
Atari, a trailblazer in the gaming industry, is pioneering an exciting new concept: a unique lodging experience combining the iconic brand with a one-of-a-kind video game-themed destination. Atari Hotels level up hotel entertainment with fully immersive experiences for every age and gaming ability, including the latest in VR and AR (Virtual and Augmented Reality). Select hotels will also feature state-of-the-art venues and studios to accommodate esports events.Atari Hotel Press Release
But When Can We Check-in And Check It Out?
Groundbreaking will start later this year but what we can expect? Who knows? Are floors each going to be themed? Are the rooms going to be themed? What are the accommodations? Hopefully, they will keep us all updated during the process on their website ATARIHOTELS. As of now, we have two renderings that frankly if it doesn’t work out would be easy enough to slap on a different brand logo and paint job.
