Yoshika Miyafuji, engaging enemy forces!

Now bringing you the latest news on Strike Witches: Road to Berlin, including when we’ll get to actually watch it!

The Basics

On March 28, 2020; Kadokawa’s official YouTube channel posted a promotional video for the latest season of the Strike Witches anime. The ending of the video revealed that the anime‘s release date is set for October 2020, but unfortunately it didn’t give an exact date.

This is the second promotional video Kadokawa has released for Strike Witches: Road to Berlin so far. The first can be found here, giving us more hints of the story.

The video’s description also revealed the voice actresses for the main characters. Here’s the translated list, with the character being portrayed on the left and the voice actress on the right:

  • Yoshika Miyafuji: Misato Fukuen
  • Mio Sakamoto: Saori Seto
  • Lynette Bishop: Kaori Nazuka
  • Perrine Clostermann: Miyuki Sawashiro
  • Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke: Rie Tanaka
  • Gertrud Barkhorn: Mie Sonozaki
  • Erica Hartmann: Sakura Nogawa
  • Francesca Lucchini: Chiwa Saito
  • Charlotte E. Yeager: Ami Koshimizu
  • Sanya V. Litvyak: Mai Kadokawa

All voice actresses are reprising their roles from the previous seasons of Strike Witches. Thankfully, no surprises there, so let’s hope it stays that way.

The Opinion

Strike Witches: Road to Berlin continues the story of Strike Witches and Strike Witches 2, making it the third official season of the original Strike Witches storyline. The second season ended in September 2010. We’ve been waiting a long time indeed for this sequel.

The promotional videos have only revealed bits and pieces of the story of Strike Witches: Road to Berlin. The general plot is that the 501st JFW is now finally in the process of liberating Karlsland, over 5 years after its fall to the Neuroi. This will definitely be an emotional moment for the Karlslandic witches, considering this is their homeland they’re liberating.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m going on about and want to find out more, I’ve prepared a short review for the anime as a whole.

The Conclusion

Hooray, we’ve finally gotten a release date for Strike Witches: Road to Berlin! However, the current bit of business with the coronavirus may or may not affect the release date, so stay tuned for more details.
