Looking for an action blockbuster during this time of massive theater closures? Netflix has you covered with The Old Guard.

Based on the graphic novel series of the same name, The Old Guard follows a band of soldiers cursed with immortality. Charlize Theron plays the leader of these immortal mercenaries, Andy. After centuries of selling their services, they find it harder and harder to stay under the radar.

A new trailer for the film starring Theron just dropped. Check it out below:

Mysterious forces are studying the Old Guard and hunting them down. Their leader, Merrick, is played by Harry Melling. (And yes, it is a little distracting to see Dudley Dursley crop up as a supervillain.) Luckily, the team has a recent recruit, Nile (Kiki Layne), to help them avoid the bad guys.

The trailer shows Netflix has gone all-out with the action in this film. It’s a blustering, blitzing, action-fest. Theron is no stranger to action epics, and scenes from The Old Guard trailer recall her roles in Mad Max: Fury Road and Atomic Blonde.

Theron’s take on the role

Theron read the graphic novel and said she felt drawn to the character of Andy.

“My initial reaction when I read the Old Guard graphic novel was that I felt there was something very grounded in Andy. That was the thing that excited me: despite the concept, she felt real, and not ‘fantasy’. So, I tried to bring a genuine exhaustion to her, and not get bogged down in the idea that she’s lived thousands of years, she’s seen it all, and she knows every kind of martial art there is,” said Theron.

You won’t have long to wait to see Andy and her band of immortal mercenaries at work. You’re getting the movie later this month. The Old Guard hits Netflix on July 10. This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Fans of the graphic novel have been wanting an adaptation for awhile now.
