Netflix’s Selena: The Series will take us through the life of legendary singer Selena Quintanilla. Now we know the series will also bring in another well-known performer: Beyoncé.

You may think Netflix is taking artistic license with this one, but it’s actually true. Beyoncé herself revealed in an interview she once met Selena in a Houston shopping mall.

Now it appears Netflix will recreate this meeting for its Selena series. The show is currently casting for the roles of Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles. Casting calls below:

[BEYONCE KNOWLES AT 11] BLACK, FEMALE. BEYONCE, an 11 y.o. sweet girl full of dreams, who also happens to sing, and one day will become the Beyonce we know.

[TINA KNOWLES] EARLY 40s, BLACK, FEMALE. TINA, mother of an 11 y.o. Beyonce. Before becoming the famous businesswoman and fashion designer, she recently opened the salon Headliners located in Houston. She takes her daughters to the mall where Beyonce recognizes Selena. Needs to be someone who looks a lot like her.

The real-life Beyoncé said she “didn’t say much” to Selena (they met before Beyoncé’s own rise to fame). However, we’re guessing Netflix will play up the interaction a bit more for the viewers.

But wait, there’s more…

Whitney Houston will appear in Netflix's Selena: The Series

There’s even more star power planned for the series. Casting also calls for someone to play Whitney Houston:

[WHITNEY HOUSTON] 31 y.o., BLACK, FEMALE. Famous American singer and actress. She needs to be someone who looks a lot like her.

At this point, it’s unclear if the Netflix series will see Selena and Houston meet. In real life, there doesn’t seem to be any record of them doing so. However, both professed to be fans of the other. In terms of the timeline, Houston would have been 31 not long before Selena’s death

The first part of Selena: The Series should hit Netflix sometime later this year. But don’t expect Beyoncé and Whitney Houston to appear in the first release. Based on Selena’s personal timeline and the proposed filming schedule accompanying the casting call, we probably won’t see the other stars until parts two or three.
