Who’s excited for the fifth season of the My Hero Academia anime? Well, apparently, the producers have definitely taken note of this. How else do you explain this epic poster?

My Hero Academia season 5 poster.
All the My Hero Academia you could ever want.

@animetv_jp posted this brand new My Hero Academia poster on Twitter. First of all, the poster announces that the fifth season of the anime will debut on March 27, 2021. Which, as of the time of this writing, is just over a month away. So you won’t have to wait long to see Class 1-A and Class 1-B in action.

My Hero Academia: Class 1-B Strikes Back

Some very popular side characters incoming.

In case you didn’t notice: Class 1-B features very prominently in this My Hero Academia season 5 poster. We see class rep Itsuka Kendo, Kirishima lookalike Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, and even jerkass who no one likes Neito Monoma; in addition to other members of Class 1-B. Looks like we’ll get to see Class 1-B back in action after so long.

And in their new hero costumes to boot.

There’s also one character who features prominently in that My Hero Academia poster who isn’t a part of Class 1-B. Someone who managed to make a big splash during the UA Sports Festival arc by proving to be an unexpectedly big threat to Izuku with his unusual and rather evil-like Quirk. That’s right. It’s the return of Hitoshi Shinso and his Brainwashing Quirk.

Playing up your villainous powerset, eh?

Shinso is one of the more interesting heroes in My Hero Academia. His Quirk: Brainwashing, gives him the ability to mind control anyone who answers his questions. You’d think someone with this kind of power would go into the villainy business, right? Well, not this guy. He is determined to use his Dark Side power for good, thus making him an ideal example of the Dark is Not Evil and the Bad Powers, Good People tropes. I’ve always liked those kinds of characters for the contrast between their powers and their personality/goals. Thus, I think it’d be interesting to see Shinso return in the anime.

Conclusion

My Hero Academia debuts an epic new poster for the fifth season of the anime. Class 1-B features prominently on it, but we also see the return of Hitoshi Shinso of the villain-like Brainwashing Quirk. While Class 1-A is the main protagonist group, it’s nice to see these side characters get their own time in the spotlight too. Catch the anime on March 27, 2021.
