Dive into the deep…if you dare! The biggest Shark Week ever hits Discovery this July.

This summer’s programming promises bigger sharks and bigger bites, with more shark programming than ever before. (Really saying something, since this marks the 33rd year of Shark Week.) This year, programming will debut on both Discovery Channel and its streaming service, Discovery+.

Some upcoming Shark Week highlights include:

  • A shark movie festival across all Discovery platforms leading up to the official Shark Week kickoff
  • Discovery’s first-ever shark competitive docu-series, Shark Academy
  • The return of shark-themed episodes of Josh Gates Tonight
  • Appearances from celebrities including William Shatner, Tiffany Haddish, Brad Paisley, the cast of Jackass
  • Compelling insight on some of the most remarkable shark species in the world, including the first in utero camera tag in a pregnant Tiger shark, a potentially new Great White mating behavior, and the discovery of an elusive pupping ground.
  • Never-before-seen images of Bull shark hunting behavior, the first ever look down the gullet of a massive tiger shark, and the highest recorded breach of a Great White

This year’s Shark Week promises to leave no fan (or fin) behind. New partnerships with shark experts, nonprofit groups, and shark enthusiasts online will deliver a 360 multi-platform experience uncovering the latest shark discoveries and trending shark topics around the globe. Check out the new AR filters on Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Plus, dive into seven nights of TikTok live streams. Look out for Bob the Shark hosting the first ever interactive JAWscers event, letting fans vote on their favorite moments.

Shark Week marks Discovery’s ongoing partnership with Oceana to help protect sharks, which are threatened by overfishing and the global shark fin trade. According to a study published in Nature earlier this year, oceanic sharks and rays have declined by at least 71 percent since 1970. So, raising awareness about the importance of sharks in our ecosystem is more important than ever.

Shark Week kicks off July 11 on Discovery.
