Read about the upcoming Star Wars: Andor series on social media and you’re bound to get some mixed sentiments. For many, like me, a new series that continues to show the darker side of Star Wars is a welcome addition to the franchise. Some, however, question whether we need a series that follows a character we know will die in greater canon. (Black Widow faced the same criticisms in the MCU.) Notwithstanding, Lucasfilm is pulling out all the stops for this series. In the latest, leaked Andor set photos, the production transforms a piece of Scotland into an Imperial fortress.

As you can see in the images above, the dam at Crucachan Reservoir in Scotland has gotten an Imperial makeover. (These new Andor set photos come courtesy of Redditor u/nonomam12.) Details on the new series are still unfortunately scarce. Thus, we don’t yet know what planet this will depict. From the looks of it though, this new Imperial base will be similar to those seen in The Mandalorian, on both Nevarro and Morak.

We already know from prior leaks that Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) will encounter shore troopers once again (or chronologically, for the first time?) in the new series. The show will dive into the espionage underworld of the galaxy far, far away. That’s a topic upon which Star Wars has touched, but never fully explored… until now. The Book of Boba Fett, the next series in the queue, is said to be even grittier than The Mandalorian. From the Andor set photos we’ve seen thus far, this show won’t be any less gritty.

There’s no official word on when the show will arrive on Disney+, but we expect it sometime perhaps mid-to late 2022. Obi-Wan Kenobi will follows The Book of Boba Fett first, likely next spring.
