Another star just boarded Sony’s Madame Web. According to Deadline, Emma Roberts has joined the cast.
Roberts joins previously announced cast members Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced. Dakota Johnson will play the title character, Madame Web. However, the roles for Roberts and the rest of the ensemble have not yet been revealed.
Sony’s Madame Web will tell the origin story of the title character, a woman with powerful psychic abilities that allow her to see across the spider-world. The character comes from the Marvel comics by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr. The film is expected to slot in with the others in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, including Venom, Morbius, and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter film.
Roberts recently wrapped production on the rom-com Maybe I Do. She also served as a producer on Netflix’s recent vampire romance series, First Kill.
Madame Web will release in theaters July 7, 2023.
