The Arrowverse crossover for this year is shaping up to be one of its biggest events of all time, as we got the news recently that Tyler Hoechlin will be reprising the role of Superman in the 3-show event. But not only is Clark Kent showing up to join his Super-Friends, the iconic ace reporter Lois Lane is being introduced in the crossover between Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl. The fun doesn’t stop there as we are also getting the live-action debut of Kate Kane a.k.a. Batwoman as Ruby Rose is joining the DC TV universe, with a potential spin-off series in the works for her.

As we get closer to the crossover kicking off production sometime this fall, we at That Hashtag Show have learned of two major characters that are currently being cast for the event. While their names are not DC Comics names, we believe they are just cover-ups for who the characters actually are. Starting off, we have the character of Lon-El that is said to be a male of any ethnicity in his 40s, with the potential to play older than their actual age. Lon-El is described as a mysterious visitor who is from another planet and is both ambiguous, inscrutable and has the power that is teased as nearly infinite. The breakdown specifies that this major recurring guest star has the potential to appear for post-crossover episodes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl as well as Legends of Tomorrow, some as just a small cameo.

While there is no character in DC named Lon-El, it definitely seems like they’re casting another Kryptonian from the House of El. But there is always the possibility that it is a character who is from any other planet, in order to keep more character details under wrap. So who do we think this could potentially be? One option, and while it might be controversial, is none other than the Man of Steel’s father himself, Jor-El. Many of you may think ‘But he died on Krypton when the planet blew-up, how could this be possible?’, and to that we say: these shows are based on comics, where dead doesn’t always stay dead.

In addition to that, in the current DC timeline, Jor-El is actually alive thanks to Doctor Manhattan who ended up saving him before Krypton blew up. As Jor-El was taken to Earth, throughout his life he witnessed the darker side of humanity and ended up regretting sending his son to this planet. In the comics as of last year, Jor-El was revealed to be the powerful Mister Oz. Being the complex figure that he is, he would make for an interesting big bad in the crossover, given the now increased Super presence. This could also explain why he would potentially appear after the crossover on the other shows, given the capability that Mister Oz has in the comics. But this is just a speculation on our part as Lon-El could be someone else.

Another candidate, while unlikely, is the Superman of Earth-2: Val-Zod. Given that the breakdown is looking for an actor of any ethnicity and that the description is somewhat Superman-y, it wouldn’t surprise us to see another Man of Steel from another Earth. But at the same time, since we already have Hoechlin’s Superman returning for the event, would this really be the right time to add another Superman? It is unlikely but given that Lon-El would appear in post-crossover episodes of any of the four shows, having another Man of Tomorrow around could work. But again, it is very unlikely.

Last, but not least, we have the character of Dr. Elias Kern, who the shows are looking to cast a male in his 30s, open ethnicity. Described as a psychiatrist with his own mental health problems, Dr. Kern is a brutal sociopath who appears to be starting to lose his grip on reality. This recurring guest star will be present in all three episodes of the crossover.

Tune in for the massive crossover event which will start on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash starting off, followed with Arrow on Monday, December 10 and then finally Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11, all at 8/7c on The CW. What do you think about these breakdowns? Do you think we could potentially see Jor-El and Jeremiah Arkham in the crossover?
