Walt Disney World Resort is going all out this year with their massive plans for the 50th anniversary. Starting on October 1st, as an 18-month long celebration will be across the resort’s four theme parks.
Each of theme parks will get the specialty 50th anniversary treatment and let’s dive into it!
New Nighttime Entertainment
Main Street U.S.A at Disney’s Magic Kingdom will be getting a brand new nighttime spectacular! “Disney Enchantment” will be kicking off the 50th anniversary fun on October 1st. For those who are fans of Disneyland Resort’s map projection shows, and this will be similar at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Featuring music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks. Visual stunning map projections will be all over the street area of the park to inspire everyone about believing in the magic.
Our next stop Epcot, as the long developed, “Harmonious” will debut on October 1st. Coined as the largest Disney park nighttime show ever created, it’s located the World Showcase lagoon. In a celebration of Disney music that will inspire people from all across the world.
Sharing grand and powerful tributes towards the stories and songs that are being conduced by Walt Disney Imagineering. Embracing new technical magic that incorporates pyrotechnics, choreographed moving fountains, lighting and media in new ways. Guests can expect new interpretations of classic Disney songs that have never done before. Reimagined in more than a dozen languages by a diverse group of 240 artists from around the world.
New Daytime Entertainment
For the first time ever, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting a brand new daytime show! “Disney KiteTails”, to debut on October 1st that will be located at the Discovery Island Amphitheater. It will be performing several times daily and guests can see performers in flying windcatchers and kits, that will range in different shapes and sizes. Out on the water as elaborate three-dimensional kites and some will stretch up towards 30 feet long! Disney animal friends, include Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie
New 50th Anniversary Art Series
Golden character statues starting on October 1st, as new art series “Disney Fab 50th” will be all over the theme parks. Eight Disney friends will be featured in golden character statues. Disney’s Magic Kingdom will feature Mickey and Minnie Mouse in the dazzling color and will be located the Hub of the park. Fifty characters in total that will be ready for the 50th celebration.
Disney didn’t say of which characters will be and will have surprising ways to interact with their guests. More details are TBA.
Disney Character 50th Attire
For the “World’s Magical Celebration”, as Mickey and Minnie will be the hosts and will be decked out in their new EARidescent outfits. The duo’s friends from Donald Duck, Chip ‘n’ Dale, Goofy and Pluto will be also taking part for the 50th anniversary.
“Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade”, will be another entertainment offering as guests can see their favorite characters. Performing several times daily.
Take Home The 50th Celebration With You
For those who are fellow Disney book collectors as a brand new 50th anniversary book will be available for the fall. Guests can bring home, “Walt Disney World: A Portrait of the First Half Century”, a coffee book as part of Disney Editions. It will be an insider’s look about the history and evolution of Walt Disney World, written by Kevin Kern, Tim O’Day and Steven Vagnini. The book is forward by Disney Chairman and CEO, Bob Chapek.
