It has been 20 years since Harry Potter first came to the big screen. Now, the time for us to put on our robes again is drawing closer. In order to continue to build our excitement, HBO Max has dropped a new trailer for Harry Potter’s 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

The trailer begins with the Hogwarts clock ticking away. Then, the famous Daily Prophet comes on screen with the main headline that reads, Hogwarts Welcomes Back Alumni”. As if we weren’t already excited enough, the iconic Hogwarts letters appear, along with some familiar faces.

WHO WILL BE JOINING THE HARRY POTTER 20TH ANNIVERSARY?

HBOMax’s reunion special, Return to Hogwarts, will bring together many of our loved witches and wizards. Confirmed to attend are the golden trio, Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. As well as Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Bonnie Write, Oliver and James Phelps, Ralph Fiennes, and Evanna Lynch. Also joining this elaborate cast is the director of the first film, Chris Columbus.

The trailer for Return to Hogwarts is a magical one of passed-along invitations. Receiving these invites are Robbie Coltrane who plays Hagrid, Matthew Lewis who is our ever clumsy Neville Longbottom, and Mark Williams the patriarch of the Weasley family, Arthur Weasley. The scene then cuts to platform 9 ¾ where someone in a hat, my guess is none other than Emma Watson, who we all know as the ever-brilliant Hermione Granger. And thus, the stage is set to give us closer to the reunion all Potterheads are anxious for.

Check out the trailer below!

Harry Potter’s 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts was first announced in November of 2021. It is the first time the whole cast has come together since filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. This is their chance to all be together to discuss the films in a whole new way. At this reunion, we will get to see the making of the film, along with never before heard stories. The actors will interact in a more open way allowing us to see more of the making, like never before.

Due to the controversial comments of the transgender community, J.K. Rowling, the author of the whole franchise, will not be appearing. Her comments have understandably caused anger in the Harry Potter community and more. So, to stop any negativity coming to the reunion, she will not appear.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts premieres on January 1, 2022, on HBOMax. Stay tuned to That Hashtag Show for more Harry Potter news!
