The upcoming thriller, White Knight, has cast its Jim Jones. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will portray the infamous cult leader. Also starring in the role of Deborah Layton is Chloe Grace Mortez. Layton is a surviving member of the Jones’ Peoples Temple cult. Jones created a remote jungle settlement in Guyana, known as Jonestown. In 1978, over 900 of Jones’ followers were victims of a murder-suicide.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT ‘WHITE KNIGHT’

White Knight is being adapted from the memoir, Seductive Poison, written by Layton. The film will follow Layton as she joins the cult and eventually becomes one of Jones’ most trusted aides before exposing the truth about Jones. White Knight is being produced by FilmNation Entertainment and Anne Sewitsky (A Very British Scandal) will direct.

Details on the film are limited at this time other than the casting news, Interestingly enough, this is not the only Jonestown film currently in development. Leonard DiCaprio will star and produce a separate project about Jones. White Knight is due to begin production later this spring.
